Ni-Cd vs Ni-MH — Which Should You Choose?
Ni-Cd batteries are more economical, deliver reliable high-current discharge, and perform well in low-temperature environments. They have a memory effect — for best results, discharge fully before recharging. Note: Ni-Cd contains cadmium and must be recycled according to local regulations.
Ni-MH batteries offer higher capacity, no memory effect, and are more environmentally friendly. They are the preferred choice for frequent users who need longer run-times and the convenience of charging at any time.
Compatible Applications
10.8V is a standard voltage used across a broad range of professional and consumer devices:
- Medical Devices: Portable insulin coolers, patient monitors, infusion pumps, portable diagnostic equipment
- Barcode & RFID Scanners: Handheld barcode scanners, warehouse data terminals, inventory management devices
- RC Models: Remote-control cars, boats, aircraft, and transmitters requiring 10.8V packs
- Emergency & Safety Lighting: Emergency exit lights, backup lighting systems, evacuation signage
- Industrial Instruments: Portable measurement devices, data loggers, field survey equipment
- Wireless Communication: Two-way radios, wireless data terminals, portable transceivers
- Security Systems: Alarm system backup power, access control units
- Other Devices: Any device originally powered by a 10.8V AA-cell Ni-MH or Ni-Cd battery pack
Connector Guide
- Tamiya Connector: Standard Tamiya plug widely used in RC models, industrial equipment, and some medical instruments. Secure locking mechanism for reliable contact.
- EL-2P Connector: 2-pin electrical connector commonly found in medical devices, industrial instruments, barcode scanners, and emergency lighting systems.

Before You Order — Important Checklist
- ✅ Confirm your device requires 10.8V (some devices are labeled 9.6V or 12V — please verify carefully)
- ✅ Match the connector type (Tamiya or EL-2P) to your device's original battery plug
- ✅ Use the correct charger for your chosen chemistry — Ni-MH and Ni-Cd chargers are not interchangeable
- ✅ If unsure, photograph your original battery and contact us for confirmation
Safety Information
Charging: Use only a charger rated for the correct chemistry (Ni-MH or Ni-Cd). Do not overcharge or leave unattended during charging.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry location (15–25°C recommended) away from direct sunlight and heat sources. For long-term storage, maintain a 40–60% charge level.
Operation: Do not short-circuit, puncture, crush, or disassemble the battery. Keep away from water and moisture.
Temperature: Charge between 0°C and 40°C. Operate between 0°C and 45°C. Extreme temperatures reduce performance and may cause safety hazards.
Disposal: Do not dispose of in regular household waste. Recycle in accordance with local regulations. Ni-Cd batteries contain cadmium — professional recycling is mandatory.
Inspection: Inspect the battery before each use. Discontinue use immediately if swelling, leakage, unusual heat, or physical damage is detected.
