Connection & Operating Steps

Before use, confirm the battery chemistry, nominal voltage, cell count, connector wiring and permitted charging current.

Step 1: Connect the Balance Lead and EC5 Cable to the Balance Charger

Connect the EC5-to-banana cable to the charger's OUTPUT ports, then connect the matching balance lead to the BALANCE PORT. Both connections are required. Carefully check the red/black polarity and balance-connector pinout, and never force a connector.

Step 1: Connect the balance lead and EC5 cable to the charger

Step 2: Connect the 12V Adapter to AC Power

Connect the 12V power adapter to a 100-240V AC power source. Keep the charger on a stable, non-flammable and well-ventilated surface. The photo shows an FMA outdoor power station as an example of a compatible AC power source.

Step 2: Connect the 12V adapter to AC power

Step 3: Connect the Adapter to the Balance Charger

Make sure the red and black banana plugs are inserted into the matching red (+) and black (-) OUTPUT sockets. Make sure the selected balance lead is inserted into the correct position on the BALANCE PORT according to the charger markings and battery cell count.

Then insert the adapter's 5.5 × 2.1mm DC plug into the charger's DC INPUT (11-15V) port. The charger's LCD screen will turn on and display the startup information.

Step 3: Connect the adapter to the balance charger

Step 4: Connect the Battery to the Balance Charger

Connect the battery's main EC5 discharge connector to the EC5 charging cable, then connect the battery's balance plug to the matching balance lead. Select the correct battery chemistry with the BATTERY TYPE button, set a charging current permitted by the battery manufacturer, and verify the settings shown on the display.

Step 4: Connect the battery to the balance charger

Step 5: Start Charging

Recheck every connection and make sure no cable is loose, damaged, reversed or short-circuited. Press the START/STOP button to begin charging.

Monitor the battery throughout the charging process. Stop charging immediately if the battery swells, leaks, becomes excessively hot or behaves abnormally.

Step 5: Start charging

Step 6: Stop Charging and Disconnect the Battery

The balance charger will stop automatically when charging is complete. Press the START/STOP button to end the charging program, then disconnect the battery. Finally, unplug the 12V adapter from the AC power source.

Safety Information

  • Use only with compatible rechargeable batteries and select the correct battery chemistry, nominal voltage and cell count.
  • Choose a charging current permitted by the battery manufacturer. The charger's 3.5A capability does not mean every battery can safely accept 3.5A.
  • Confirm connector polarity and pinout before every charge. Do not modify connections while the charger is powered.
  • Charge on a non-flammable surface in a dry, ventilated area, away from heat, moisture and direct sunlight.
  • Never leave a charging battery unattended. Keep children and pets away.
  • Do not charge a damaged, swollen, leaking, short-circuited or deeply discharged battery.
  • Disconnect power after use. Store the charger and battery separately in a cool, dry place.
  • Inspect the charger, adapter, cables and connectors before each use. Stop using damaged components.
  • Dispose of batteries and electronic equipment according to local regulations.
